The sci-fi action franchise which kicked off with the small budget film ‘Pitch Black’ in 2000 will continue with its leading man Vin Diesel returning for the second sequel. The long in development sequel was never a sure thing after the first sequel titled ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ failed to receive favourable reviews generally and failed to deliver financial success within its theatrical run. Released in 2004 the film reportedly was made with a production budget of $120 million yet only managed to achieve approximately $107 million in worldwide gross.

Not only am I incredibly excited about seeing this movie from a film geek’s standpoint I am also enthusiastically curious as a comic fan how Peter Travis’ vision of Dredd will correspond with the classic John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerras’ comic. A new still has emerged that depicts a little more than previous news reports but still not enough to give too much away.

Previously we reported about Karl Urban’s comments regarding the new Judge Dredd film while he was on the promotional junket for his latest film ‘Red’. At the time it was expected that filming would begin within about two months and that certainly has turned out to be the case as the first image from the set has hit the net.

The image which was shared by series artist ‘Jock’, reveals Urban in costume on the set of the film which is being directed by Pete Travis.

Summit Entertainment bring us a new Trailer today for the Comic Book Adaption RED.The story follows ex CIA agents that know too many secrets and are now the agency's top targets. The trailer makes the film look like alot of fun and with a sensational cast including Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich just to name a few.
