The Thing - *UPDATE* New Release Date for U.S.

As of last week, Universal Studios in the U.S. had removed the prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing to an undertermined date. Universal has given the date of October 14 2011 as the date that sees the new film bow in US cinemas.

The Thing - No Release Date

This week, Universal Studios in the U.S. have pulled the release date of the prequel to The Thing from it's April 29 2011 to an undetermined date.

Sources are claiming that the reason for this is for reshoots and additional photography. It's highly likely that this is the case as most films nowadays do have a block of time allocated for additional photography.

What's not known is whether this means more time to add digital effects or (hopefully) practical. Either way, we can expect to see the film in 2011 and let's hope that this delay strengthens the film and not weaken it.

The Thing Prequel - First Look

In 1982, Universal unleashed unto the world a film about a visitor from another world that made us think about who and what it means to be human.

No, I'm not talking about E.T. here, I am talking about the OTHER film that year about aliens - John Carpenter's The Thing.

Based on the short story 'Who Goes There?" and the 1950's Haward Hawks classic "The Thing From Another World", Carpenter's film was a box office dud that many fans have embraced and uplifted to cult status in the years since it's release.
